Quick Start

Get a Flask app running on AWS Lambda in under 5 minutes.

1. Initialize a project

deployless init --app

This runs an interactive wizard that asks for project name, stage, and runtime (with sensible defaults — just press Enter). The --app flag also scaffolds the app structure.

2. Create your first feature

mkdir -p app/features/hello
app/features/hello/routes.py
from flask import Blueprint

hello_bp = Blueprint("hello", __name__)

@hello_bp.route("/hello")
def hello():
return {"message": "Hello from deployless!"}

3. Deploy

deployless deploy

On first deploy (no samconfig.toml), --guided is added automatically so SAM prompts for initial configuration.

What was generated

After deployless init --app, your project looks like this:

my-project/
├── deployless.yaml # Project config
├── requirements.txt # Global dependencies
├── run.py # Local development: python run.py
├── .gitignore
├── app/
│ ├── __init__.py # App factory: create_app() → Flask
│ ├── features/
│ │ └── hello/
│ │ └── routes.py
│ └── shared/ # Shared code — copied into ALL Lambdas

Local development

python run.py

Your Flask app runs locally as a standard Flask development server. No AWS services needed for local development — deployless annotations are no-ops at runtime.
